That is the perfect world.

Unfortunately, let's face it, the perfect world never happens in the lives of the majority of Americans. The NPD Group®, an organization that estimates food trends in the United States, reported in 2002 that more than 50% of all food consumed (not just restaurant foods) consisted of burgers, fries, Mexican food and pizza.

Consumers go to the drive thru at McDonald's®, Burger King® or Taco Bell® and pick up burgers, chicken nuggets and fries without even thinking about the consequences. F=no fried foods
A= No add on's-sauces, high cal dressings, dips, mayo, all "special sauces"
S= skip breakfast, skip sugary drinks

The easiest way to navigate the 200 or more items is not what's good, but what's bad. Here is how F.A.S. T. eliminates all of the high calorie, high carb foods:

F: No Fried Foods for Lunch and Dinner at Fast Food Restaurants:

You really only need to avoid a small number of items among the two hundred or more food choices we are exposed to everyday. Going to fast food restaurants and finding reasonable, low-calorie, portion-controlled foods is absolutely possible.

A: Add-On's:

This means all of the sauces, including Mayo, many of the proprietary sauces, bad salad dressings, croutons,- this can save you hundreds of calories.

Vegetables like lettuce and tomatoes on great, we are talking about adding extra proteins and carbs to the sandwiches.

What Can You Eat: Here are the foods that past the F.A. S. T. "test":

McDonald's: hamburgers(single), cheese burgers, grilled chicken, wrap snacks, apple dippers, all salads, side salads, watch-no creamy dressings,

Burger King: hamburger, cheese burger, chicken sandwich-grilled, BK Burger Shots(kids and adults), salads, again watch dressing and add-on's

Wendy's: Junior hamburger or cheese burger, grilled chicken, Classic single, chili(large or small), baked potato.(sour cream and chives as 80 calories), all salads-watch the add-on's and dressings,

Subway: most subs, nothing fried, no mayo, watch sauces, avoid meatball, Philly cheesesteak, chicken and bacon ranch, BMT, Italian spicy, Feast, Chicken Teryaki

It's that simple, you can go to these places when you need to you just need to be a little careful with what you chose.

Don't Let Fast Food Sabotage Satisfying Senior Sex


Fast food is everywhere. Most of us eat it not realizing what kind of impact it can have on senior love'n.

We all do it. Even me. Stop by Wendy's, McDonalds, Pizza Hut to grab a fast meal. You may be tired, in a hurry, not want to cook, give yourself a break or a treat. But, as you stand there eyeing the huge order boards, it's hard not to super size it, get some fries with your hamburger, or what the heck, it's been a tough day, you deserve a milk shake too. Seldom do we go for the salads first, and even then they may be saboteurs disguised by lettuce.

The pictures may be tantalizing, but the reality of what's really in your order may give you a jolt. Given activity levels and size, most seniors need between 1,500 and 1,750 calories a day to maintain a healthy body mass. (Of course really big guys will need a little more, most women need a little less.) Let's see how some of the fast food choices contribute to your total.

Lots of people stop at Dunkin Donuts for breakfast. It's quick and tastes so good. If they're really being goo they'll forgo the donuts and go for the cheese omelet. Eggs aren't that high in calories they tell themselves. But, by the time you add the cheese and the oil it is fried in, you can easily be up to 690 calories, with lots of that from fat. Of course you'll have coffee... with cream? add another 100 calories. With sugar, not so bad only 40 calories a spoonful. Alright, that second cup looks so good, why not? It's just another 140 calories. (Total for breakfast 990 with two cups of coffee.)

So, you promise yourself you'll stick to salad for lunch and stop by Taco Bell, Their salad that looks go good a has 960 calories, or two thirds of a day's calorie allotment. Add a small regular soda and you've got another 100-150 calories. McDonald's Chicken Salad comes in at about the same numbers. If you go for the shake you can count on close to 1,200 calories at McDonalds. (Total for lunch 2,050 - 3,250 calories. Total for the day 2,050- 3,250)

Of course you'll stop by Starbucks for a large hot chocolate for an afternoon pick me up, and add another 600 calories to your total. (Total for the day 2,650 - 3,850)

And you will go home to a full dinner, adding still more to your daily total.

Here's the deal, even if you are big guy with a 2,000 calorie a day allotment, adding only 8% more to your daily intake, a measly 40 calories, will mean you'll gain 10 pounds a year. Keep it up and you'll add 10 pounds every year. All from a measly 40 extra calories a day.

Stick with fast food on a regular basis and pretty soon the servers at your local fast food outlet will greet you by name, auto order your regular, you'll be buying larger clothes every season and your love life will have been thrown out with the wrappers. Being overweight is one of the most significant factors in not being able even when you're willing.

Does this mean no more fast food? Not necessarily. Just keep it as a treat not an everyday occurrence. The rewards for more healthy eating will more than make up any feelings of deprivation.
